PS4
The owners of the PlayStation 4 aka the PS4, Sony are released three previous PlayStations dating back to 1994 to when the PlayStation 1 was released. Due to the fact that Sony are the owners of this platform they are given the decision on what games go and don’t go on the PS4 for example they have games sold on their platforms which can’t be played on any other platform one example of this would be The Last of Us, and Drive Club. This console has a target audience of people over the age of 16 up to the age of mid 30’s this is because the main games on the console are games over the age of 16 and 18 but you have very popular games which are released for people over the age of 3 this would be the FIFA series and the Gran Turismo which are aimed at two totally different target audiences but people over the age of 18 still like to enjoy playing it. The platform holders SONY have worldwide studios that allow the consoles to develop further on they are based in places such as the UK, Japan, US, and Netherlands.
Xbox One
The platform holders for this console in this case would be the multi-billion-pound company owned by Bill Gates Microsoft, they have the same power as Sony in deciding what goes on and what doesn’t go on their console, and have been creating and selling different consoles since the original Xbox which was released in 2001 one game for example which is only available for the Xbox One would be, Forza Horizon. The target audience would be the same as the PlayStation as they sell the main over 18 games then play games such as FIFA, and Forza Horizon. EA have a special contract with Microsoft which allows players on the Xbox to get exclusive access to things within EA games for example in FUT you are allowed access to the legends.
WII U
The platform holders for this are the family gaming company from Japan called Nintendo who have created different family gaming consoles such as the WII and Nintendo DS. Nintendo are different to other companies who own consoles for example they only sell family friendly games one example being WII sports, and another being Super Mario Bros series. They mainly sell games created just for their consoles but they do welcome outside games as long as they abide by the rules which are given by Nintendo. Nintendo have their main headquarters which is based within Kyoto, Japan where they develop everything Nintendo related.
iPhone
The people who own the iPhone are a company called Apple who create many different Apple products such as the iPad, and the iWatch. The first original iPhone was released in 2007. Apple as a company selling the iPhone do not have a main intended target audience but on their devices the games are more child friendly and there are tens of thousands of game available to download for example Angry Birds. Many of the games available are free to download. Due to this they are available on the Apple App Store which is only available for people who have Apple devices. Apples main headquarters is based within California, US. This is where all of their devices are designed etc…
