Legal and Ethical Issues

Leading up to the creation of my game I will need to bring in different things into account some of them things are the legal and ethical issues of me creating this game for when it is released onto the high-street and the app store/play store. The first legal issue would be the rating of my game. I have chosen to give the game a rating of 3+ the reason behind me doing this is; there is no violence within the game, there is no swearing within the game, there is no sexual references within the game, and there is no drug/substance use within the game this means that the game would be suitable from the ages of 3+.

Another legal issue about the game is the Copyright. The copyright is important for the game because someone who didn’t create the game might be able to take the idea and use the name of your game and design because you have no legal binding stating that you have copyright. We will need to get a copyright agreement of Universal to use the characters of Despicable Me in the game because Universal have placed a copyright for the film meaning that you are not allowed to use the characters of the film in the game unless you have a copyright agreement with them.

On ethical issue is I will need to make sure that people don’t take any offence to the game. Even though they might not take offence some people might try and point out factors into why the game should be boosted up to a 7+ rating. This would include things such as in bonus rounds they don’t get offended that Gru is shooting a freeze ray or that the cars the minions are in shoot out small missiles. As for religion and race I will make a fair representation of the different religions and races by adding different religious worship temples such as churches and mosques. As well as this we will be adding in different character styles for different religions in the civilian section. This means that we wouldn’t be slated for adding just one race/religion.
